What it is SediCalc
is free software. It runs on Linux, Mac, and Windows computers. It is
available as source code as well as precompiled, ready to run program.
You can modify it, redistribute it, do what ever you like with it, free
of any charge. SediCalc is licenced under the Gnu Public Licence. SediCalc is built using Trolltech's QT4 libraries. SediCalc comes without any warranty!
What it does SediCalc consists of several modules for sedimentological analysis. Currently, these modules are included:
Atterberg
calculates settling times in differential settling analyses
calculates density and viscosity data for a variety of suspension media in dependance on temperature
density and viscosity data are store in an editable file as coefficients of a 6 deg. polynomial regression.
calculates time and date for the end of analysis for a given
starting date. Don't bother with adding hours, minutes, and seconds to
the starting time. Let the computer do that for you (he can do it
better...).
prints pretty tables (see below)
Centrifuge
calculates settling times in differential settling analyses using centrifuge methods
calculates density and viscosity data for a variety of suspension media in dependance on temperature
calculates time and date for the end of analysis for a given starting date
prints pretty tables (see below)
Editor
let you edit, create, save text files. For example, use it to modify the density/viscosity data
Ca-Mg
calculates Mg in calcites from XRD peak shifts
calculates stoechiometry of dolomites from XRD peak shift
...
